RTFM

What does RTFM stand for?

Read the flippin' manual

Censored

Someone who sends you RTFM wants you to "read the flippin' manual." You're most likely to receive this acronym in messages from a support or IT "professional," of whom you've asked an "obvious" question.

When someone sends you RTFM, it means the answer to your question can be found in a manual, FAQ, or other easily-accessible source. If you're lucky, the person who sent you RTFM will guide you toward that source. It's more likely, however, that the person who sent you RTFM will just ghost you - leaving you to find an answer on your own.

Example

You would know the answers to all your questions if you would just RTFM!

Sometimes, reading the manual still doesn't help
