3. What does GM stand for?

Good move

Gamers may compliment each other by saying GM, or "good move." This acronym is most often used in turn-based games, such as chess, and online TCGs like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering, to praise a particularly good sequence or turn.

However, you may encounter GM in chat while playing any sort of online, strategy-based game, including LoL and DnD. Seeing GM in the chat of an online DnD game can be particularly confusing, as DnD players may also use GM to stand for "game master." Hopefully, context will tell you whether someone is complimenting your move or summoning the game master to determine whether your move was valid ...

5. What does GM stand for?

Good morning

GM stands for "good morning" and is a shorthand way to greet someone online or through a text in the morning.

It is typically sent by old-fashioned older adults who enjoy exchanging pleasantries. These users probably send GA in the afternoon and GE in the evening, as well.

An example of when you may receive GM from a person is when you are messaging another user online in the morning hours and in the same time zone. Or, you may receive GM in a text from your mom in the morning asking if you are coming over for dinner later.

Example

GM, how did u sleep last nite?
