How well do you know your texting slang?
In online chat, kids use 99 as code for "parent has left the room." This signal (an abbreviated form of CD99) lets those your child is chatting with know that you're no longer around. (And thus, they can say whatever they want without getting caught.)
If you see your child enter just 99 in an online chat session, you may want to covertly circle back and try to see the rest of their conversation. In all likelihood, they or the person they're chatting with are about to say something you'll want to know about.
